Annual traffic at the Yellowknife Airport (YZF) grew by 2% from 2024 to 2025.
The total number of passengers recorded at the airport exceeded 618,000, growing by nearly 12,000 in comparison to the previous year. Air traffic to the north has increased by nearly 35% since 2022.
The GNWT says that this increase in traffic was driven by expanding airline routes, more frequent flights, and an expanded interest in northern tourism.
“Passenger growth at YZF reflects the growing interest in the North; from tourism and business travel to the national conversations on the numerous projects and innovations underway as well as the potential for investment,” said Minister of Infrastructure Vince McKay.
“It underscores the importance of safe, reliable air service for residents, businesses, and visitors alike, and plays a vital role in keeping our communities connected while supporting economic activity across the territory.”
Yellowknife Airport continues to support economic development and tourism in the North, offering connections across the North and to major Canadian cities.
