Yellowknife police seize cash and drugs following search

Yellowknife RCMP have charged several suspects following the execution of a search warrant that led to the seizure of cash and drugs.

On October 20, police arrived at a residence on Gitzel Street, working to locate a suspect who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.

While officers were unable to find the suspect at the residence, they reportedly observed what they believed to be drug trafficking activity. The four occupants of the residence were then arrested.

Police were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence and seized suspected crack and powder cocaine as well as over $2,000 in Canadian currency.

As a result of this search, three of the occupants of the residence have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. One was also found to be under an outstanding arrest warrant for assault with a weapon.

Two of the suspects have been remanded into custody to appear in court later this week, and the third has been released and is scheduled to appear in court next month. The fourth occupant of the residence was released without charge.

Police say their investigation into this incident is ongoing.
