Official results released for YK1 Board of Trustees election

Official results have been released for the 2026 YK1 Board of Trustees election that was held earlier this week.

The seven trustees that were elected are Jillian Bancroft, Barbara Bell, Stacy Ridgely, Allan Shortt, Billie-Jean Smith, Brianna Spicer, and Spencer Tracy.

This election of trustees was held concurrently with the Yellowknife 2026 municipal election, marking the first time that Elections NWT has been involved in administering school board elections.

YK1 has also released a variety of statistics from the election, showing a turnout of less than 15% among voters ages 18 to 24, with older demographics’ turnouts ranging from 30% to 45%.

The new Board of Trustees will be sworn in on November 2, 2026, at the YK1 district office.
