Unoffical results have been released for all five polling stations and the Office of the Returning Officer in the 2026 Yellowknife municipal election.
According to these results, just over 5500 votes were cast for mayoral candidates in this election. Melissa Syer is in the lead in these preliminary results, with 4041 votes, with the other candidate Garett Cochrane receiving 1482 votes.
Cochrane reportedly conceded the election early, with only three of the polling locations reporting, when the results showed a likely win for Syer.
Over 30,000 votes were cast across the 21 candidates for City Council, with the eight candidates with the highest vote counts being elected to the role.
The eight candidates with the highest vote count as of the unofficial results are Cody Drygeese, Adrian Bell, Donna Lee Demarcke, Robert Warburton, Steve Payne, Rylund Johnson, Rob Foote, and Keneisha Buddoo.
Once the election has been finalized, the city will provide official results through their website.
