Closures along 50 Avenue for sewer repairs announced

The City of Yellowknife has announced that there will be phased closures along 50 Avenue during the summer building season, lasting from June 26 to August 30.

These closures are due to major sewage force main replacements that will be taking place between 45 Street and the new lift station that is currently under construction near School Draw Avenue.

These repairs will ensure that the city’s underground wastewater infrastructure is able to operate safely and reliably. The repairs may include blasting and rock removal as part of the construction efforts.

Crews will be working from 7:00 am till 7:00 pm seven days a week (occasionally extending to 11:00 pm when necessary) to maximize productivity during the short northern construction season.

Revised routes and schedules for city transit will be posted at bus stops over the coming weekend. The latest information is also available at the City of Yellowknife Website.
