Yellowknife police arrest drunk driver following traffic stop

Yellowknife RCMP have charged an impaired driver following a midday traffic stop in downtown Yellowknife earlier this week.

On November 3, at approximately 12:00 pm, police conducted a proactive traffic stop in the downtown core.

While speaking with the driver, officers say they found reason to believe they were impaired by alcohol and unable to safely operate a vehicle.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Yellowknife RCMP detachment. An analysis of their breath samples by a certified Breath Technician reportedly showed three times the legal limit of alcohol.

The driver was also found to be unlicensed at the time of their arrest.

They were charged with a number of offences and released from custody on an appearance notice.
