Ice Crossing at Peel River Crossing closes for season

N.W.T.’s Infrastructure department has closed the Ice Crossing at Peel River Crossing (Highway 8) for the winter season. The ice crossing was closed today as part of seasonal road closures.

Last week, the Aklavik Access Road, Mackenzie River Ice Crossing (Ndulee) and the Liard River Ice Crossing at Fort Simpson were closed for the season.

Earlier this month, the Infrastructure department closed the Dettah Ice Road, the Nahanni Butte, Wekweètì, Gamètì, Mackenzie Valley winter Roads and the Sambaa K’e Access Road as part of planned seasonal closures. The Edzo-Rae Ice Road also saw a planned seasonal closure.

Officials advised travellers to head to Drive NWT for the latest updates on road conditions, including seasonal road closures.
