Yellowknife RCMP investigating alleged assault with “noxious substance”

At approximately 8:49 p.m. on Friday, November 22nd, Yellowknife RCMP received a call for service from an alarm company after a downtown business’ alarm went off. Police attended the business located in the area of 50th Street and 50th Avenue and on-site, they found an employee in distress.

RCMP noted the officers could detect the presence of a noxious substance inside the business. The Yellowknife Fire Division was then called to assist with decontamination.

As the Yellowknife RCMP started an investigation, NT RCMP Police Dog Services and the Forensic Identification Section were called to assist. Nothing got stolen from the business and no one sustained injuries during this incident. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on this suspicious activity is asked to call Yellowknife RCMP or contact Crime Stoppers.
