Boolesque tickets go on-sale Monday at noon

For the second year in a row, Yellowknife’s spookiest burlesque show takes the stage to make all your nightmares come true.

Breanna Bray, Paige MacIntosh and Samantha Marriott are behind the show which promises to bring more acts and darker themes this year.

“Last year taught us that Yellowknifers love Halloween. So why not give them what they want?” Marriott said.

The three started Boolesque last year, thinking it would be a one-time event.

“We started the first year off with a vision to fill a burlesque void and figured it would be a fun way to spend a Fall,” Bray said. “The feedback was incredible from both performers and audience members, and we decided to start making it an annual thing.”

The show is approximately two hours with a mix of comedy, spooky, sexy and gory acts Bray says. Boolesque takes the stage October 17, 18, and 19 at the Top Knight.

“We include a viewer warning for a reason, we have a much larger cast this year as well and lots of new faces,” Bray said. “Halloween means a lot of things to a lot of people. We embrace everything from campy to vampy and everything in between and beyond. Expect pop culture references as well as original creations.”

Open to all bodies, orientations and gender expressions, Boolesque welcomes performer and audience members who may not have been to a burlesque show before.

“We want to explore the art of Burlesque and the art of the tease. This passion extends to the feminine, masculine and non-binary folks as well,” MacIntosh said. “We feel that including performers of all gender expressions is important to that, and desired by the audience. We didn’t want to limit who could be in our show because Boolesque is for everyone.”

Tickets are cash only and available starting Monday September 23 at noon at the Black Knight. Tickets are $35 for regular admission or $175 for a four-person front row Haunted House table.

“You can expect a lot of glitters but also watch out for blood spatter this year,” Bray said.
