Storage unit fire under investigation

Just after 9 p.m last night, the City of Yellowknife Fire Division (YKFD) got a report from RCMP of smoke and fire coming from a storage unit on the first floor of Norseman Apartments.

The Fire Division responded with a duty crew of seven personnel on Engine 9 and Medic 6.  A full group alert was initiated to provide additional staffing.  Upon arrival no smoke or fire was noted.  An attack team entered the structure, located the fire in a storage unit and extinguished it.  A ventilation fan was set up to remove the smoke from the building.

The fire was put out shortly after the fire department arrived.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal.

This is the second fire in the city this week.
