RCMP searching for fraud suspect

A former Yellowknife business owner is being charged with several counts of fraud.

A few years ago, Deepak Kumar applied for a loan from a Toronto-based financing company.

He lied about his assets and that began an investigation by RCMP in late 2015.

Kumar is the former owner of 2 diamond cutting and polishing stores that were located on Archibald Street in Yellowknife.

The amount of alleged fraud is reportedly valued at over one million dollars.

RCMP officials are seeking a warrant for Kumar, as he is currently not in the country.
