City asks for public opinion on new park developments

The City of Yellowknife is asking residents to share their opinions on two new park development projects planned for 2026: a replacement playground at Latham Island and a new outdoor recreational space between Hagel Drive and LeMay Drive.

Both projects are currently in the public consultation phase. While the city will ultimately make the final decision, feedback from residents can help inform the layout and features of each space.

“These projects provide an opportunity to design spaces that are inclusive, safe, and welcoming for all ages and abilities,” said Grant White, Director of Community Services.

“Community input is essential to ensuring these spaces reflect the needs, priorities, and values of the people who use them.”

Residents are invited to fill out a short survey on these potential development projects. These surveys will be open until March 13 and can be found here.
