Adam Yeadon, a courageous member of NWT Fire, passed away on this day in 2023. A community of mourners including his fellow firefighters are remembering him as a courageous first responder, who put everything on the line for what he believed in.
“Today, we remember our brother Adam Yeadon, who lost his life in the line of duty two years ago on the fire line. It is a day of continued grieving and deep emotion for our whole team,” said NWT Fire in a special post on social media.
Yeadon was 25 years old when he passed away, leaving behind a young family and a community, who to this day, continues to mourn his loss deeply. His family and the firefighter community, paid tribute to him as a man who “dedicated his life to the wellbeing of others.” Yeadon continues to be remembered and honoured for the “extraordinary difference he made for so many.”
The firefighter was remembered for following a calling to protect his community and family in all he did.
“From delivering firewood to Elders during the offseason, to working himself to the bone every day to protect people and the things they cared about, to his dedication to being a great dad and partner – he was selfless, he was strong; and it shone through in everything he did,” said crews upon his passing in 2023.
“In his Yellows, Adam brought the focus and drive to get tough jobs done, the curiosity to constantly improve, and the warmth which made him a great team member, and an even better man,” said NWT Fire.
Today, firefighters paid tribute to the fallen, remembering the many who have died in the line of duty.
“Before we headed out on the fire line today, we observed a moment of silence in his memory, and of so many other wildland firefighters, first responders, and aviators who gave their lives to protect others,” said NWT Fire.
Messages of condolences have poured in on social media in response to the post
“Whoever you are, wherever you are, people like Adam have made a difference for you –and we encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the dedication and sacrifice so many make to keep our communities safe,” said NWT Fire.
