City of Yellowknife holding symposium on electric vehicles

The City of Yellowknife is inviting residents to learn about what electrical vehicle ownership is like in the North at their Electric Vehicle Awareness Symposium this September.

The event is being held in partnership with the Arctic Energy Alliance, the Yellowknife Car Share Co-op, Naka Power Utilities, the GNWT Energy Division, and Ecology North.

“This symposium provides residents with the opportunity to explore electric vehicle ownership through demonstrations, conversations, and firsthand experience,” said Greg Littlefair, Acting Director of Planning and Development for the City of Yellowknife.

It will bring together EV owners, technical experts, and community organizations to help answer questions about EV ownership, share their first-hand experiences, and showcase the performance of EVs in northern conditions.

“Supporting informed decision-making is an important part of implementing the City’s Climate Action Plan, and this symposium creates a space for meaningful dialogue and collaboration to help build a more sustainable Yellowknife,” said Littlefair

The symposium will be held in the ATCO Aquatic Centre parking lot on September 12, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. The event is free and open to all ages.
