Following evacuation orders for Liidlii Kue First Nation, Fort Simpson and Wrigley the health and social services authorities have issued updated advisories as they work to adapt to the needs of evacuees. On Wednesday, Fort Simpson officials announced that Hwy 1 was open southbound after an area wildfire closed off the roadway earlier this week, prompting a shelter-in-place order.
“Highway 1 is now open to traffic but only to south bound headed vehicles. Fort Simpson and Wrigley are still under evacuation orders. If you wish to evacuate in your personal vehicle now is your chance to leave safely.”
A shelter in place order was issued Monday evening for those who remain behind in Liidlii Kue First Nation and Fort Simpson, including emergency personnel as wildfire FS016 has expanded and FS014 has impacted Hwy 1.
