Five new fires were located in the territory according to the latest reports from NWT Fire. Moderate conditions are expected to continue, with some warming in the western portions of the territory, and colder conditions in the Sahtu and Beaufort Delta Regions expected to help manage fire activity.
Crews in Wrigley are working to clean up hotspots along the southern perimeter of the fire while other crews work to demobilize structure protection equipment which was put in place earlier this month.
In Fort Simpson, crews are working to strengthen the fire line within the community as well as along Highway 1. This work will help secure the community in the long-term and prevent any future threats from becoming too large an issue.
In the Sahtu Region, a cluster of fires near Deline have shown little to no activity due to cool conditions and rainfall in the area. Crews are working to demobilize equipment.
In the South Slave, crews have successfully secured the entire perimeter of Wildfire SS047, 59 km east of Fort Resolution. Crews are working to establish a 100 ft blackline around the fire.
The five new fires were located in the North Slave Region. All are in remote areas and are not considered a threat to any communities or structures. Crews are working to manage hotspots and hold the ignition line at Wildfire ZF028, north of Behchoko.
No fires of note are currently burning in the Beaufort Delta, according to NWT Fire.
