The Northwest Territories Power Corporation has announced a number of planned outages that will occur in several communities around the territory over the next week.
Fort Resolution will experience a power outage this evening around 8:00 pm to test extensive new upgrades to the local diesel power plant. The outage is expected to be brief.
Hay River will experience a power outage from 9:00 am till 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 13. The outage will be in the Robin Crescent area and is required so that NTPC can perform critical maintenance. A map of the exact outage area can be found on NTPC’s Facebook page.
Norman Wells will have two power outages on June 15 and 16, both lasting from 11:45 pm till 12:45 am, affecting the whole community. These outages are to finalize upgrades to the local power plant. NTPC warns that there may be intermittent power during the outages and recommends electrical devices be unplugged or have proper surge protection.
