Inuvik Police seize over 120 litres of alcohol

Inuvik RCMP has seized over 120 litres of illicit alcohol following a tip from a member of the public.

On April 15, police received a report that a large amount of liquor had been discovered in a package destined for Aklavik, following an inspection by the shipper.

Police investigated the shipment with the assistance of a Territorial Liquor Inspector and determined that the alcohol originated outside the territory.

The liquor was seized by police as importing more than 3 litres of spirits into the territory is a violation of the Liquor Act.

Police believe that the alcohol would have eventually been sold illegally in Aklavik if delivered. Their investigation remains ongoing.
