Tłı̨chǫ Government announces Giant Minds Scholarship Program

The Tłı̨chǫ Government has announced the creation of the Tłı̨chǫ Giant Minds Scholarship Program.

This program aims to assist Tłı̨chǫ citizens in pursuing either a Red Seal Trades Certificate or a post-secondary degree or diploma.

“This new post-secondary pathway supports the development of knowledge and critical skills needed by the Tłı̨chǫ Nation and the Northwest Territories,” said Grand Chief Jackson Lafferty.

This scholarship program will offer 15 scholarships valued at $2000 each to Tłı̨chǫ citizens who live in the Northwest Territories and have been accepted to an applicable education program.

The program will be administered through the Tłı̨chǫ WORKS unit of the Mine Training Society in Yellowknife on the behalf of the Tłı̨chǫ Government.

” We are building capacity in our Nation’s workforce and this is an investment in our citizens towards steps that lead to Tłı̨chǫ self-sufficiency,” said Lafferty.

Applications for the scholarship are open today and will be accepted until July 17 and can be submitted directly to the Mine Training Society.
