Power outages in Fort McPherson and Inuvik

Two northern communities in the NWT experienced power outages this morning, but both issues have been resolved according to the Northwest Territories Power Cooperation.

The Hamlet of Fort McPherson experienced an outage at 8 am. The outage lasted for less than an hour before power was restored at 8:45 according to NTPC. They do not anticipate any further issues in the near future.

The other outage was in the Town of Inuvik, a portion of which was without power while a line was repaired. The repairs were completed and the system was restored shortly before noon.

We have reached out to NTPC for comment but haven’t heard back at this time.
