Hay River makes “Northern” housing blueprints accessible to public

The Town of Hay River has made a housing design catalogue of pre-reviewed housing blueprint designs accessible to the public.

The home designs have been tailored specifically for northern climates, taking into consideration factors such as flood risks and other climate risks.

The catalogue includes accessory dwelling units and multifamily designs, which housing development grants are available for, said town officials.

According to the announcement, the blueprints have been preapproved for compliance with the town’s recently updated regulations, something regulators said can reduce upfront costs and help prospective homeowners reduce risks and streamline compliance with the national building code.

North Now has reached out to town officials for more information and will share those details when they become available.

Anyone who would like more information about the catalogue can head to the housing catalogue webpage.

More information about the housing grants can be found on the town’s grant info webpages.
