A 35-year-old from Ft. Resolution has been declared missing

Search and rescue efforts have ended for a man from Fort Resolution who went missing on Sept. 3.

The 35-year-old reportedly left Talston Bay by boat and was on his way to Fort Resolution.

He did not return to the community and was reported missing.

The RCMP said that despite an extensive search, the man from Fort Resolution remains missing.

Cpl. Josh Seaward told True North FM that a boat was located one day after the search efforts began last week.

“A boat belonging to the individual was found during the course of the search however, there have been no other findings beyond that unfortunately,” said Cpl. Seaward.

“The boat was found near Mission Island, on September 4,” added Seaward.

“Despite exhaustive efforts on the part of the Joint Rescue Coordination Center, the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, Civil Air Search and Rescue, the Canadian Rangers, RCMP assets including a police dog handler and remote-piloted aircraft operator and numerous local volunteers, the man was not located,” said officers.
Fort Resolution RCMP said the matter now turned from a search and rescue operation to a missing persons case.

Police also expressed gratitude for the efforts of those involved in the search. Officers also extended a message of compassion to the family in the announcement.

“Our thoughts are with the family of the missing person at this time.”
