The Tłı̨chǫ Government and the Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation have announced a partnership to expand apprenticeship opportunities for Tłı̨chǫ Citizens through the Tłı̨chǫ Apprenticeship Pathways.
The three-year service agreement will help prepare Tłı̨chǫ Citizens for careers in the skilled trades, apprenticeships, and project management, as well as support current and future construction and infrastructure projects in the Tłı̨chǫ region.
“By working together with the Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation, we are creating pathways for citizens to gain skills, enter the trades, become apprentices, and take part in the construction, infrastructure, and business opportunities that support our Nation,” said Grand Chief Jackson Lafferty.
The partnership establishes a full-time Apprenticeship Coordinator, industry work placements, apprenticeship school supports, and support for sponsoring employers, providing Tłı̨chǫ Citizens with a clear roadmap towards exploring trades careers and apprenticeships.
“This agreement connects training with real employment opportunities and helps ensure Tłı̨chǫ Citizens are prepared to take part in the construction, infrastructure, and business opportunities in our communities, across the North, and through major regional and territorial projects,” said Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation CEO Paul Gruner.
Tłı̨chǫ Citizens interested in trades, apprenticeships, or project management can contact the TIC Apprenticeship Coordinator to learn more about the available programs and opportunities.
