Fort Good Hope RCMP respond to shots fired

Fort Good Hope RCMP have arrested a suspect in connection to a report of shots being fired in the community this past weekend.

Shortly before 1:30 am on August 30, police received a report that a person had fired multiple shots at a residence in the community.

The house was reportedly occupied at the time, including three youths, but no injuries have been reported.

Officers responded immediately and were able to locate the suspect at another residence a short distance away, where they were arrested without incident. The suspect was reportedly out on bail and subject to release conditions.

Police say their investigation indicates this was an isolated incident and connected to an altercation between the suspect and another person at the scene prior to shots being fired.

The suspect appeared in court for a bail hearing and has been remanded into custody.

RCMP say their investigation into this incident is ongoing.
