Yellowknife Choral Society announces new co-directors

The Yellowknife Choral Society has announced the new co-directors of the Aurora Chorealis choir.

The two new directors are Kara Cherland and Rhoda Andrews, who will be taking over from the previous director of 25 years, Margo Nightingale, in September.

Cherland, a vocal performance major at Concordia University, has worked as a musical educator for 15 years, leading both choirs and school performances, as well as offering private singing lessons.

Andrews is a lifelong Yellowknife resident who sang with Bill Gilday’s Yellowknife Youth Choir as well as the University of Alberta Mixed Chorus. She has been an active member of the choir for the past 10 years.

Both new directors will be at the Yellowknife Choral Society’s annual meet and greet, where the public can learn more about their musical backgrounds and plans for the upcoming season.

The meet and greet will be held at the Yellowknife Visitor’s Centre on September 8, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
