Indigenous Sports Circle NWT, Sport North Federation, and Air North launch airfare program for athletes

The Indigenous Sports Circle NWT, Sport North Federation, and Air North are working together to launch the NWT Sport Travel Fare Program.

This program will help athletes, coaches, and other sports volunteers who need to travel with reduced airfare rates and additional travel benefits.

“Year after year, our members tell us the cost of travel is one of the greatest barriers to participation,” said Aaron Wells, Executive Director of Indigenous Sports Circle NWT.

Athletes and sports organizations in the territory face significant costs associated with travel, due to the travel distance required to access opportunities both within and outside the NWT.

Through this program, Air North will provide fixed, reduced rates to members in good standing with the Indigenous Sports Circle NWT and Sport North Federation, allowing for greater certainty when planning and budgeting for future travel.

“We’re proud to partner with NWT sport organizations and help make it easier for athletes, coaches, and support staff to access the competitions, training opportunities, and experiences that help them grow and represent their communities with pride,” said CCO of Air North Benjamin Ryan.

More information about the program, including eligibility and booking requirements, is available on the Indigenous Sports Circle NWT website.
