The Government of the Northwest Territories is sending their best wishes to Team NT as they prepare to represent communities across the territory at the 2026 Arctic Winter Games.
Team NT includes over 350 participants this year, including 275 youths alongside coaches, cultural managers, and mission staff. The delegation represents communities from across the territory.
The team will be participating in a wide variety of Arctic Winter Games sports, including archery, curling, and speed skating. Cultural delegates will also be among the participants, showcasing the talents of NWT musicians and performers while sharing their traditions and arts.
“Team NT showcases the North at its finest, with youth and leaders from all regions of our territory competing proudly, supporting one another, and sharing our diverse cultures with the circumpolar world,” said Vince McKay, Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs.
This year also marks the introduction of the first formal Participant Eligibility Policy for Team NT. This policy aims to strengthen fairness and transparency in team selection by standardizing selection criteria across all roles.
“To every athlete, coach, cultural participant, and mission staff member: you have already made us proud. Travel safe, compete hard and fairly, support one another, and enjoy every moment in Whitehorse,” said McKay.
The Arctic Winter Games are being held in Whitehorse, Yukon this year, and will run from March 8 to 15.
