City of Yellowknife and union representing city employees ratify collective agreement

The City of Yellowknife has announced that the Public Service Alliance of Canada Local X0345 and City Council have ratified a new Collective Agreement after several weeks of negotiations.

The agreement took effect on September 16th and will remain in effect until December 31st, 2027.

Yellowknife Mayor Rebecca Alty says after hard work from both parties, the new collective agreement reflects an understanding between the needs of city employees and the city’s resource “limitations.”

“The meaningful dialogue throughout the collective bargaining delivered many mutually agreeable enhancements to the collective agreement,” she says.

The agreement will see a four year term, ending at the end of 2027 and inluces an annual three per cent raise for city employees every new year from January 1st, 2024, to January 1st, 2027.

The newly ratified agreement also includes additions to leave and allowance provisions, while respecting rest periods, casual leave, Indigenous cultural leave, parental leave, and others.
