Fort Liard man’s death ruled unrelated to arrest made night before

Camrose, Alberta police have concluded their external investigation into the suspicious death of a Fort Liard man.

The now deceased man was arrested in June for public intoxication.

After being released, the man was found dead 12 hours later.

Camrose RCMP determined there was no issue with how Fort Liard RCMP handled the man while in their custody. Stating in their report “His time in police custody was uneventful and there was no evidence to suggest he was subjected to any use of force by police.”

An autopsy revealed the man died of natural causes.

The man’s family has been notified of the results of the review.
