City to hold open house on Kam Lake expansion plans

The City of Yellowknife is inviting residents to come and learn about the proposed Kam Lake Area Development Plan and Zoning By-law Amendment at an open house next week.

As Yellowknife continues to expand, planning for future land uses, be they commercial, agricultural, or public utility, is an important step to help support local businesses and communities.

“This development reflects a balanced approach to growth, supporting economic development while upholding responsible land use planning. It will create opportunities for investment, business growth, and long-term community prosperity,” said Charlsey White, Director of Planning & Development.

The proposed expansion focuses on 65 hectares of undeveloped, city-owned land to the west of the established Kam Lake areas, which focus on warehouses, outdoor storage, and showrooms.

This open house will give residents the opportunity to see what has been proposed for these new additions, as well as the research and studies that helped shape the plan. They will also be able to provide their input on the proposed concepts and direction of the plan.

The open house will be held at the ATCO Aquatic Centre on July 23, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
